EVERY PARLIAMENT
Given EVERY PARLIAMENT, not just Labour and WASPI, bar none breaks 'promises', does not deliver manifesto points and does deliver unstated policies why do 70% of those eligible keep voting for one of the major two parties!!?
a) habit
b) stuck in ways cannot change
c) feel duty/legally bound
d) have not considered other options
e) still believe democracy delivers overall
f) there is no alternative (that they see)
Some of you will vote for other parties but they ONLY make up 1% of the overall vote so negligible.
The alternative being offered currently is right wing it's their fault i.e. Reform UK (formerly UKIP, etc)
To me their 'disguise' of creditability hides racism/fascism - the very thing many of you vote to avoid.
Including their vociferous support for leaving the EU.
The veil of democracy includes many views, that is its liberal nature. It includes, in my view, practices and speech which break laws. But due to the process being biased or inefficient they are not charged, arrested or detained but many of you will dismiss this claim with your democracy is better than what you perceived would happen without it.
The 'peace' it brings with 'no conflict' is clearly a semantic point. Since WW2 there have been many conflicts which are basically political differences with various claims on all sides. For instance, Palestine and Israel dispute over land, that old chestnut, is exactly the same as Britain and Northern Ireland - dispute over land and who owns it/governs it. How come many of you conveniently reduce this point to 'nothing to do with me/politics'. Thus avoiding acknowledging democracy does not rid us of conflict. Negotiation or violence brings resolution in favour of one or the other.
So currently the NI peace agreement exists, the Northern Ireland Assembly does not meet because political groups disagree and their paramilitary organizations currently do not fight.
The semantic point is the conflict has not really been resolved just moved to a non-violent dispute. Representatives are unable to compromise and they are not using weapons.
