Pubs Galore

In recent times pubs, and breweries, have been announcing they are closing with regularity. If closure is a by word for failure, saturated market or just not enough consumers then maybe we could consider it our fault.

However, more often than not financial or economic reasons are quoted as the reason for the demise. The price of energy gone up, the price of ingredients/product gone up, etc.

The price therefore has, or will go up, for the consumer. It's a 'shoot yourself in the foot' kind of scenario.

So if you think pubs, and therefore breweries, are

  • At the heart of a community

  • Help social cohesion/relations

  • Combat loneliness

  • Develop friendships

Then why not make the effort to pop along at least once a week and help the landlord, the breweries and yourself. A pint in the local could be the start of a new venture.

And where one business falls someone will see an opportunity. So the cycle starts again and the people pull a pint, offer you a snack or just say hello.

Meanwhile, the holders of power seek different aims and wield sticks to reach their desires.

This sorry tale is not new nor old but it is part and parcel of the game to which we are all players and there lies your input. Will you take the step from knowing to doing? From aware to action? From inaction to positively promoting going to the pub.

I have and don't look back.
